As a new leasing agent for Merritt Properties, Shaelyn Mullaney was looking to hit the ground running. VTS has allowed her to contribute immediately, better manage her leads, and collaborate with the entire Merritt leasing team.

The challenge:

Shaelyn Mullaney recently joined Merritt Properties as a leasing agent in the Virginia office. She knew that there would be a learning curve -- getting up to speed on all of Merritt’s 16 million square feet and the different internal reporting processes. She was determined to learn fast and contribute quickly.

But, she was surprised to learn that her learning curve was going to relatively quick. “Merritt had just finished rolling out VTS when I joined the company,” Shaelyn explained. “Having the platform in-place as I started has been extremely helpful.”

The solution:

Merritt Properties had signed up for VTS Landlord Standard in mid-2016 in an effort to streamline and improve its data collection and associated insights.

The results:

Because VTS was already being rolled out and integrated with the rest of Merritt’s systems, Shaelyn was able to begin leveraging the platform right away.

She explained, “It's great for me because I'm out in the field taking prospects to different spaces every day,” she explained. “I can go back to that and find everything I need. I use VTS to track what the broker said, what the tenant wants to do with the space, and what requirements they have.”

This not only helps keep her organized, but VTS also helps her keep better track of leads. “We can have a conversation with somebody that may not be interested in something right away, but further down the line, we can go back and look at the conversation that we had or what their interests are and re-engage with them intelligently,” she said.

Not only does VTS help her stay in touch with leads, it also helps her communicate better internally. “VTS helps us communicate well with our other leasing agents,” said Shaelyn. “If I work with another leasing agent, we can team up on everything. We have a meeting once a week and, since I’m in a separate office, being able to pull something up on the screen and share with the rest of the leasing team helps a lot.”

All in all, “Just having all this information in one spot and not having to write it down in a notebook and go back to it later has been so helpful. It actually makes me look really good right now,” Shaelyn concluded.
